Senior Oncologist Surgeon Dr. Satish K. Shukla, Special Guest of the conference was Honoured at The Prestigious World Book of Records International Ceremony in Kathmandu, Nepal
For his very innovative idea of logo of a surgeon - ‘Surgeon A Scalpel Holder, Trust and Passion and inseparable Friend’, logo with the slogan is first of his kind in 3000 years of history of medicine.

Madhya Pradesh: A globally prestigious and highly acclaimed function organized by World Book of Records was grandly held at the luxurious Hotel Yak and Yeti. The magnificent venue, known for its royal heritage, elegance, and cultural grandeur, provided a perfect setting for the internationally acclaimed ceremony.

The ceremony was organized under the visionary leadership of Santosh Shukla, CEO of the organization, along with a dedicated team of more than 50 professionals from diverse fields. Every aspect of the programme, including decoration, stage management, audiovisual presentations, systematic award distribution, and dignified honouring of awardees, reflected excellence and meticulous planning. The organizing team included eminent coordinators and experts such as Vikram Trivedi, Apoorva Menon, and Dr. Tithi Bhalla, among others.

The grand international event was graced by Chief Guest Bhawani Rana, a distinguished visionary personality from Nepal’s royal community, widely respected for her contributions to social welfare and humanitarian causes. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Satish K. Shukla as Special Guest along with several eminent dignitaries. Distinguished royal personality Sangita Shreshta Einhaus, Managing Director, Dwarika’s Group of Hotels & Resorts; and Jacqueline Leigh Lenick from United Statesalso graced the occasion with honour and dignity.

The successful organization and management of the three-day international programme was efficiently handled by Sagar Katwal and Aarati Poudel Katwal, whose composed personalities, wisdom, and remarkable management skills ensured the smooth execution of every activity. One of the major highlights of the international ceremony was the recognition and appreciation of Senior Oncologist Surgeon Dr. Satish K. Shukla for his outstanding contributions to surgery, oncology, medical education, scientific literature, and humanitarian service.

Dr. Shukla holds prestigious qualifications including M.S., F.A.I.S., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., FRCS, and FAMS. He served as President of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (1998), President of the Association of Surgeons of India (2014), Chairman, Chief Editor of Indian Journal of Surgery (2003-2013) and Director of Lakshmi Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, Indore, and Professor & Head of Surgery at MGM Medical College and M.Y. Group of Hospitals, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

He received advanced oncology training for four years at the renowned Roswell Park Cancer Institute and earned an Oncology Fellowship in United States. During his distinguished career, he has examined students in more than 50 medical institutions across India and participated in over 250 scientific conferences as a lecturer, educator, and speaker. Dr. Shukla has published more than 60 scientific articles, two of which achieved international recognition. His academic and literary work also includes a blog featuring nearly 1,600 articles on surgery, medicine, philosophy, nature, education, politics, and religion, along with approximately 500 poems, including writings dating back to 1954 when he was only 13 years old.

A landmark achievement acknowledged during the ceremony was Dr. Shukla’s internationally appreciated article titled: “Surgeon — A Scalpel Holder, Trust and Passion, An Inseparable Friend”, published online on 2nd May 2025 in the Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology. The article has been described as one of the first conceptual analyses in nearly 3,000 years of surgical history focusing on the inseparable relationship between a surgeon and the scalpel. Dr. Shukla emphasized the concept through the analogy: “No Bat — No Batsman” and similarly “No Scalpel — No Surgeon.”

Six months ago, the SAARC Nations Surgical Association constituted a special committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdul Mazeed Choudhary to identify the “Icons of Surgery” in SAARC nations based on eight detailed criteria evaluating professional excellence, aptitude, contributions, and achievements.

The selection process, supported by AI and Google-assisted validation, recognized several eminent Indian surgeons, including:

1. Dr. Sushruta

2. Dr. Jemini Sen

3. Prof. Dr. Tehemton Udwadia

4. Prof. (Dr.) Satish Shukla

5. Prof. Devendra Patel

6. Dr. Devi Shetty

7. Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin

8. Dr. C. Palanivelu

Dr. Shukla is presently pursuing another scholarly article titled “Language of Eyes – Observation”, highlighting the importance of observation in medical science and human understanding. He has also authored six books, with another publication currently under process.
