Promoting Better Nutrition Through Expert Guidance
A nutrition awareness session conducted by a nutritionist in Bangalore highlighted the importance of balanced diets, healthy eating habits and adequate nutrient intake. The session encouraged participants to make informed food choices and recognise that addressing hunger requires not only access to food but also access to nutritious and diverse diets.
Innovation for a More Sustainable Future
The celebrations also showcased innovation using biodegradable meal-packaging pouches, highlighting opportunities to explore more environmentally responsible approaches to its meal packaging.
Celebrating Seeds, Diversity and Food Heritage
A grand Seed Festival brought attention to the importance of seeds, agricultural biodiversity and traditional food systems. The festival celebrated the role of seeds in sustaining agriculture, preserving food diversity and supporting resilient food systems. During the programme Food Heroes and Food Heroine were honoured for their contributions to agriculture and food security. The event witnessed the participation of approximately 1,200 farmers from neighbouring villages. Women representing 43 Self-Help Groups showcased a variety of traditional dishes encompassing all five food groups, celebrating the region’s rich culinary heritage and indigenous food practices.
Collective Action for a Hunger-Free World
The World Food Day celebrations reinforced the message that ending hunger requires action at multiple levels from packing meals and improving nutrition awareness to encouraging sustainable practices and strengthening food systems. By engaging employees, volunteers, students and nutrition experts, Rise Against Hunger India sought to translate awareness into meaningful action.
